So if you are here that means you are interested in getting some awesome bullet journal ideas that you can try out. But many people actually don’t know a thing about having a bullet journal, what a bullet journal is or are just confused all around. So I’ll try and help clear a few things out before we get to the bullet journal ideas you all want.
So what exactly is a bullet journal?
In short, a bullet journal is a method of note-taking and journaling using a bullet point format. Pretty straightforward right?
One main idea behind a bullet journal is that you only jot down quick notes instead of writing loooong sentences that can rival an essay.
You can use your bullet journal for pretty much anything including a to-do list, tracking your mood, tracking your weight and measurements, planning an event, journalling about your day. The list goes on and on. And that is why a bullet journal is so great – it is a diary, planner, and journal all in one!
Bullet Journal Jargon
There are some words that are used in bullet journaling that may be confusing to some. So I will outline some of the basics here.
- Bullet journal – like mentioned above, it is a quick way of taking notes in a bullet point format.
- Index – like in all things, an index is the table of contents in your journal, and you update this index as you progress. With this you will know exactly where in your journal you made a specific note, saving you time since you don’t have to go flipping through your journal.
- Future log – this a page set out to jot down any future events, and you can decide how far in the future you want to go with this. Usually, this is done for a maximum of twelve months, but it is up to you.
- Monthly log/spread – this is a traditional monthly calendar, documenting all your to-do’s for the month and things you may have forgotten to do the previous month.
- Daily log – AKA dailies are basically a daily to-do list and observations.
- Weekly log/spread – weeklies are the same as monthlies and dailies, but only using one week at a time. You can plan out seven days in details including a to-do list, events, and random thoughts.
